Studying death specifically in detail in City of God helped me to see the meaning behind the film which Meirelles was trying to express. Unlike many action and crime movies, death in City of God is presented in a much more harsh and sad way. The audience never see the action to be 'cool' or entertaining but saddening as we can see the harshness of the stories that took place in the slums of Rio.
