COG context ppt



Knowing the context for a movie is extremely important into understanding why aspects are being represented in the way they are. Context allows us to see in City of God that stories like the ones told were not at all rare and we can see the real atrocity behind how the slums of Rio are and how the people live. Context allows us to understand why the Meirelles felt the need to express the truth through film and we can tell due to context that this truth was being kept secret until around this time. Therefore, it is clear context allows us to see the purpose of the film and therefore further understand the meaning within the film
