Costumes:
McMurphy dressed in a normal outfit which contrasts to everyone else's plain hospital outfits - symbolises him as part of the outside world in the hospital
Nurse Ratchett wears a clean white outfit - tries to present respectability.
Cinematography:
Zooms in to Nurse Ratchett shows how she grabs attention of the group and holds it - centre of screen shows the focus is on her. Close ups and mid shots are the only shots used as we never see the group as a whole. Instead we are shown them individually to represent that she has power over each individual.
Sound:
Small noises such as coughs highlight the silence in the room.
Sound is diegetic and mainly dialogue.
The lack of sound shows the fears of nurse Ratchett and allows tension to build in the session.
