The Gunfighter:
Comedy with individual character's perspectives shown.
Little character development.
High key lighting.
Large build up to the finale shootout.

Fades to a pan of the dead bodies - presents that there was death and destruction all around.

Swimmer:
Black and white - creates complete focus on the swimmer.

Characters initially show little emotion and are not close together - this opposes what happens after development of their bond.
Characters become more emotional and joyous and open. Fassbender's character seems to let himself go in terms of enjoyment but all a build up to the betrayal twist.
Pitch Black used to keep attention on just the sound.

No dialogue but all shown through facial expressions such as confusion or small smiles.
Extreme lack of realism is used to show how the main character is a dreamer not interested in the real world.
Music interrupted by diegetic music showing her getting distracted from her thoughts.
