we need to talk about kevin scenes

Kevin archery transition.

We see Kevin enjoying himself both as a child and a teenager through archery. This is shown through the use of high key lighting, a bright colour palette, slow motion when smiling, cheerful music and perfect focus. This scene shows underlying aggression and is foreshadowing of the future. As Eva watches and remembers seeing Kevin so passionate about archery we can see her guilt as she feels as if she should have known what he would become. The target shown in Kevin's eye is used to show the audience Kevin's true intentions and shows Eva feeling as though Kevin had been planning his attack.
Kevin missing the target and then getting a perfect shot on the window next to Eva shows how she feels that he is hiding himself from Franklin and out to mentally attack Eva. The sound of the arrow hitting the window is amplified in order to highlight the fear and shock Eva felt.

The shooting scene
Empty hall with large but shut off depth of field creates at atmosphere of being trapped. Kevin is centred stage and poses like Jesus showing how he views himself over everyone.
